West Australian Catholic Migrant & Refugee Office
(An agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth)
I, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Perth, mandate the West Australian Catholic Migrant and Refugee Office (WACMRO) to assist the Archdiocese in fulfilling its responsibilities in furthering the Mission of the Church in accordance with the beliefs, values, traditions and social teaching of the Catholic Church.
The WACMRO seeks to promote the acceptance and settlement of vulnerable migrants and those who have sought refuge as humanitarian entrants into Australia in a manner that upholds their dignity to enable a sense of welcome and belonging in the parish and broader community.
Migrants and refugees are not pawns on the chessboard of humanity. They are children, women and men who leave or who are forced to leave their homes for various reasons, who share a legitimate desire for knowing and having, but above all for being more (Pope Francis-Migrants and Refugees: Towards a Better World, 2014)
